About Us

Why did we name our blog travel a minute?

Sheni always had a hard time travelling since she’s from Sri Lanka. The closest country is India, which depending on where you go, can be almost 5000 km away! And those flight tickets aren’t nearly as affordable as inter europe travel for example. What about other countries you ask? – Well, most of them require a visa if you are from Sri Lanka.

When Sheni moved to Prague, it was like a dream come true, so many beautiful places within close reach. She was like a kid in a candy store. And she didn’t waste any time… Everytime she had a few days off from university, and had saved up enough money, she travelled somewhere. And since she was almost always time limited (on a time budget!), she had make clever itineraries for herself, so she can see as much as she can with the time she had.

Since she became quite good at doing this, and always saw and did everything everything she wanted to do each trip, she wanted to spread the knowledge! She was toying with idea of starting a blog for sometime now, but only decided to go ahead with it after getting to know me.

We want to dedicate this blog to visiting places with a limited amount of time, but with the ability to have the best experiences, to see what you want to see, try what you want to try, so that you don’t have to come back again (Well, of course you can if your heart is drawn to a place. But we just don’t want you to leave with regrets )

We want to show people, that you can travel for just a moment (an extended weekend for example) and still be able to make the most of your time by seeing the most of each beautiful place that this wonderful planet has to offer. Hence travel a minute!

Hey there Sheni here!
I’m a 25 year old almost doctor to be originally from Sri Lanka. I moved to Prague 6 years ago to study Medicine, never having been outside of Asia before. ( I had only lived in Sri Lanka and visited India) I moved here as a step outside of my comfort zone, and it remains to be one of the best decisions I ever made!

I love travelling, photography, dogs and reading! I am a big Harry Potter fan. (Fun fact: this isn’t my first website, I created a Harry Potter website when I was just 11 years old) I believe in miracles, magic and that there’s still some good left in the world.
My roles for the blog : I’ll be the main writer and Photographer

Hey I’m Honza
I am 28 years old, but I still feel like a young boy in my soul. I live in Prague and I am pursuing career as a digital marketer.  Eventually, I hope to make myself able to travel and work from anywhere. I am a big fan of martial arts, all kinds of it, but I am no longer an active fighter. Nowadays, I just enjoy visiting the gym from time to time and I occasionally go skateboarding for fun.

Some last important things about me: I am terrified of heights and my favourite fruit is kiwi. I’ll be mainly handling technical things for the blog as well as inspiring and supporting Sheni with her writing.

The story of us
We met on a blind date. Who put us on this blind date you ask? Funnily enough, Tinder! (Best place to look for a relationship right? Yea we are still just as surprised as you are!)

I (Sheni) was dared to join the app, and I was on it for exactly 48 hours. In between the multiple weird messages, there was Honza, asking to get to know me better. We met the week after. Honza took me to a nice bar (check our Prague guide to know which one) I was ment to leave in an hour but we ended up talking for almost 4 hours about everything you could possibly imagine and the time just flew by!

Honza: I was really excited to meet her but I was disappointed after I got a message from her saying that she can only stay for one hour. We’ll make the most of it, I thought. When I saw her in real life, I was like, wow. Even though I was amazed, I managed to play cool, we talked about so many things and had the best 4 hours together.

By the end of the date, I already felt like I knew so many vital things about him, we had such an easy banter and the conversation just flowed so naturally. I even ended up staying up until 3am that night finishing up some work for university because I stayed longer than I should have!

After that first date, we saw each other every single day for a week! An inevitable connection was built. Long story short, since I loved to travel and Honza hadn’t traveled very much, we planned a trip to Verona and Venice 2 months later. The weather wasn’t perfect but atmosphere and the time spent away from our real lives really helped us get to know each other even better. Honza fell in love with Italy and we fell for each other. During the trip, we called it official 🙂 we hope we have many more stories to tell through our blog as our story progresses..

This picture below was taken by some Belgian journalists while we were in Verona, read our Verona article to find out the whole story!
